"Mastica is a typical representative of the large family of anise aperitifs. There are many different ways to drink Mastic Brandy
straight with ice or in a cocktail. The most popular mastic cocktail is London mist, or as Bulgarians call it Cloud, which consists
of mastic brandy, creme de menthe, and ice. It is the most refreshing drink for a carefree hot day by the sea.  When frozen it gets
beautiful crystals."

Mastika is originally a liquor made from the resin of the mastic tree. This tree grows primarily on the Greek island of Chios in the
Aegean Sea.  The production of mastika usually starts with alcoholic base of raki or rakija, made from fermented and twice
distilled fruit (usually grapes) that is filtered through the roots of the mastic (Pistacia lentiscus).  The alcohol can also be mixed
with the resin of the tree to give the alcoholic drink its distinctive taste. In Bulgaria, it is often combined with Menta, a mint liqueur,
to make a traditional cocktail called cloud (Bulgarian: облак).  There are similar liqueurs in Greece as Ouzo in Turkey as Raki and
in Persia as Arak.
Mastic Brandy cocktails:
1. Dragon
50ml mastica, 60ml milk, 60 ml cream, 30 ml sugar syrup.  Mix ingredients in a shaker with ice cubes and
strain them in a wine glass. It is served on the rocks.
2. MontrTal club
40 ml dry gin, 40 ml mastic brandy.  Mix the ingredients in a glass and add ice.
3. Millionaire
10 ml mastica brandy, 40 ml dry gin, 1 egg white.  Mix ingredients in a shaker, strain them into a glass, and
add ice.
